Family Stations of the Cross

"Family Stations of the Cross" is set for Wednesday, April 10th at 6 pm.  Families with children of all ages are invited to meet at the altar and participate in this interactive Lenten tradition, coordinated by MQP Young Families Group.  We will meet at the church altar, and follow the stations around the church.  The children will receive a small token at each station, as a tangible reminder of that event leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion.  Strollers, noisy toddlers, and older children who might set a good example all welcome!

Mass times for Ash Wednesday, 3/6, are 6:45 am, 8 am, 9:15 am and 7 pm. Begin your Lenten season by spending some time with Jesus! Blessing of the Throats

A Blessing of the Throats for St. Blaise Day will be offered after all the Masses the weekend of Feb. 2-3. Little is known about St. Blaise, but it is believed that at least one miracle is attributed to him: that a mother pleaded for Blaise to cure her son who was dying from a fish bone lodged in his throat. Blaise prayed over the boy, and the child was healed.

Grief Group - January 21

Our grief group will resume on Monday, January 21 at 6 pm in the Msgr. Lubeley Room in the lower level of the rectory. If you or anyone you know has suffered a loss recently, or even a year or more ago, we would love to have you attend. You do not have to be a parishioner or even Catholic to come. The retreat is led by high school students who pray, give talks, lead small groups, and share how their faith defines their life. Join us for coffee, donuts and friendship after each morning Mass Sunday, Dec. 9, in the school cafeteria. After the 11 am Mass, join us for special treats and activities honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe!  You can also purchase Bridge Bread.  We will have several kinds of artisan breads, cinnamon rolls and brownies. Each purchase or donation helps those less fortunate than us to continue working hard to end the cycle of homelessness. SCRIP cards are also available for purchase. Give A Meal a Month

Give a Meal-A-Month is a program designed to fight hunger in the St. Louis area, by linking our Parish with St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry in South St. Louis. Parishioners purchase the food and return it to the Msgr. Luebely Room on by 11 am Sunday. On that same Sunday, we sort, box, and deliver the food to the pantry. We deliver approximately 125 bags of food each month to the St. Wenceslaus Pantry. Ways to Give - Thanksgiving Mass

Thursday, November 22 is Thanksgiving Day, a time for all of us to be most grateful to God for all his many gifts to us.  We will gather as a parish family for Eucharist at 9:00am on Thanksgiving morning. There will be no 6:45am or 8:00am Mass that day.  Mindful of those who do not share our bounty, all are asked to bring canned goods and other food items for our  Society of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.  In addition, the collection on Thanksgiving Day will be solely for our Society of St. Vincent de Paul and their work with the poor in Ferguson and our own community.

This is the highest honor in Scouting and a true accomplishment as less than 4% of all Boy Scouts attain the rank of Eagle. The Blessing Box

The Blessing Box is filled with food and toiletries available to any and all who need it.  The project was started and built by Anne & Bob Goodwillie, parishioners of Mary Queen of Peace.  Anne, also, is the Preschool Director and teaches at MQP. The concept of the Blessing Box is simple. The box is a miniature food pantry.  There is no lock on it.  It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hurricane Relief Donations

Thanks to all who generously contributed to the recent second collections for the relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey.  Nearly $40,000 was received from our parishioners.  The children at our parish school raised over $2000.  The monies raised will be divided between Catholic Charities and Queen of Peace Parish in Houston, Texas. Next weekend, April 1-2, the Permanent Deacons in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, in conjunction with the Respect Life Office, will be collecting diapers for infants, toddlers, and adults as part of our 2nd annual diocesan-wide Pro Life service project to assist families in need. Updated Technology at MQP

As you may have heard, we have an MQP Technology Committee working on a plan to update our wireless internet connectivity throughout the entire parish campus. Thanks to all who made their pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal. The ACA goal for Mary Queen of Peace this year is $244,434; Our Challenge goal is $259,609.  To date, the parishioners of MQP have pledged $239,284.65, which makes us about $5,000 short of our goal and $20,000 short of our challenge goal. J was recently the Pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in St. Charles, and was also the Pastor of Queen of All Saints Parish in Oakville (where he lived with Fr. John) and Sacred Heart Parish in Crystal City, in addition to serving at other parishes and high schools in the Archdiocese. Msgr. On Saturday, June 18, our 6th grade baseball team volunteered with the Challenger Baseball program at Tilles Park.  Challenger Baseball allows kids and young adults with disabilities to play baseball, with the help of "buddies" who volunteer to help. Our MQP kids had fun sharing their love of baseball with their buddies. Soccer Coaches Meeting

Important CYC Rules Change!

Important Announcement from the MQP Athletic Council CYC has informed each parish that starting with Fall 2016 Soccer and Volleyball, that ALL children ages K-8th will now need an ID card in order to participate in any game for every sport. Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa, Bishop of Masaka Diocese in Uganda, and Microfinancing Partners in Africa, presented the Parish of Mary, Queen of Peace with a plaque on Friday, May 6, at the 8 AM Mass to thank the parish for your generous response to the Lenten Appeal in 2014 which funded 91 cows, including one from the School of Mary, Queen of Peace on behalf of the school of St. Theresa Bwanda in Masaka Diocese. — The plaque reads: “The Cow Project Farmers thank Mary, Queen of Peace.”

Homebound Ministers Needed

Looking for a few new Homebound Ministers to take Communion after 9 AM Mass to our Homebound parishioners. This ministry provides the opportunity to take Communion, to visit with our Homebound, to keep them up-to-date on parish activities, and to just be a friend to someone who is not able to leave their home. It is also a great service opportunity for families to share together. The Homebound rotation is not a weekly commitment, but is usually one Sunday a month with the option to trade weeks when schedule conflicts occur.
