Changing Protocols for Mass

Posted on May 30, 2021 in: General News

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is permitting those fully vaccinated to attend Mass without wearing a face covering.  Those not fully vaccinated, including children, must wear a face covering inside Mary Queen of Peace Church.

You will also see the return of holy water fonts and hymnals in the pews, as the risk of transmission of COVID through these is very low.  Still, it is your choice whether to use holy water when entering the Church or to use a hymnal during the Mass.  If you are uncomfortable doing so, please refrain.

Beginning the weekend of June 5/6, the Hospitality Ministers and Ushers will begin taking the collection at the usual time before the Liturgy of the Eucharist, using handled baskets.

The Presentation of the Gifts of bread and wine (and the collection on Sundays) will also resume this summer.  Please be generous in offering yourself or your family for this ministry, especially when asked.

In the weeks to come, we will ease social distancing in the Church by removing the blue tape that has restricted access to some pews.  Please continue to social distance in Church as much as possible out of respect for those who are uncomfortable or not fully vaccinated.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding as we navigate a return to a full and active participation in the Eucharist!
