Lenten Project 2012
Isn't it exciting to know that we at Mary Queen of Peace have the capability to build a dental clinic for the poor in St. Jean de Sud parish in rural Haiti for just about $30,000? Read more about the project and view photos taken by our own Dr. Steve Fleischut on one of his many volunteer medical mission trips to Haiti.
Confirmation 2011
On November 9, 2011 Bishop Edward Rice confirmed 80 eighth grade students from our Day School and the Parish School of Religion. It was wonderful to behold their openness to the Holy Spirit as they received the third and last of the Sacraments of Initiation. Now they are fully initiated into God's life in the Spirit, into God's family, into Christ's Church, and into the saving power Jesus' death and resurrection.
90th Anniversary & Bratfest
We celebrated 90 years of community and worship with a special Mass and our annual Bratfest on Sunday, September 25, 2011. The church looked beautiful and the Festival Choir sounded amazing! And, a few of our former parish priests enjoyed returning to MQP. Be sure to read The Early Years: 1922-1956 compiled by parishioner Susan Grigsby for some interesting history of the first 90 years.
Father Bob's Slideshow of the Canyons
Father Bob shared his summer vacation photos at a gathering on Monday, August 29th in the Rectory Meeting Room. He presented some great shots of the Grand Canyon (North & South Rims), Monument Valley, the Escalante drive, Bryce Canyon, and Zion Canyon. God really created some masterpieces of sculpture in stone through the forces of nature in these areas and everyone enjoyed the magnificent beauty of God's creation.
Msgr. Lubeley & Sr. Charlotte Farewell Party
A Mass of thanksgiving and farewell party was held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 to honor Msgr. Lubeley and Sr. Charlotte for their many years of service and ministry to Mary Queen of Peace. The large congregation and beautiful music provided by many talented musicians made a wonderful tribute to Monsignor and Sr. Charlotte! We thank them for their loving service and pray for God's Blessings on their future ministries. Be sure to view the photo gallery of the event!
