On Thursday, November 21st, Bishop Edward Rice confirmed 85 Candidates for Confirmation from our MQP School and our MQP Parish School of Religion, including a number of students from other private Catholic schools. They diligently and prayerfully prepared since this time last year for the celebration of their third and final Sacrament of Initiation in which they were prayed over and sealed with the Holy Spirit.
Father Craig's Farewell
A Sad Farewell at MQP....on June 10th we sent our beloved Associate Pastor, Father Craig Holway off with our loving blessings to his new parish, St. Joseph’s in Cottleville in St. Charles County. Please pray for Father Craig as he transfers to this mega-parish of over 5,000 families (MQP has 1,350)!
Women's League Breakfast with Santa
Many children and parents spent a wonderful morning with Santa and Mrs. Claus on December 8th.
They enjoyed a hot breakfast, a special performance of Christmas carols sung by our own children's choir, Gingerbread house making, story time with Mrs. Claus, a candy cane walk, a coloring station, and a traditional photo with Santa!
Advent by Candlelight 2012
Over 90 parish women attended an evening of celebration, sharing, and preparing during the season of Advent at our first Women's League Advent by Candlelight on Sunday, December 9. Fr. Mitch Doyen presented a beautiful reflection on Mary. Food, friends, fellowship and music were enjoyed by all.
Lenten Project 2012
Isn't it exciting to know that we at Mary Queen of Peace have built a dental clinic for the poor in St. Jean de Sud parish in rural Haiti? Dr. Steve Fleischut, his wife Tammy, and fellow parishioner Heather O'Keefe visited the new clinic during a February mission trip. Read more about the project and view photos taken at the Dedication Ceremony during the trip. The new dental clinic donated by Mary Queen of Peace, is a concrete example that a better world is possible. Thanks to all who donated and to the community of MQP for the compassionate display of generosity.
90th Anniversary & Bratfest
We celebrated 90 years of community and worship with a special Mass and our annual Bratfest on Sunday, September 25, 2011. The church looked beautiful and the Festival Choir sounded amazing! And, a few of our former parish priests enjoyed returning to MQP. Be sure to read The Early Years: 1922-1956 compiled by parishioner Susan Grigsby for some interesting history of the first 90 years.
