Open Forum for Parishioners:

Pastor’s Corner –
Fr. Meier made several observations throughout the meeting, including:

Fr. Meier will be
attending “Good Leaders, Good Shepherds” in June.
This is a 2-year national program on leadership for priests.

8th
grade graduation weekend a success – Friday night “
·
Suggest extending
invitation to Leadership Meeting to all parishioners:
bulletin insert weekend of 5/31 and 6/1, post to MQP website, ACTS e-mail
list, school marquee, Wed. folder and Fast Direct.
·
Facilities usage request:
Sr. Charlotte wants to change retreat for 8th grade
confirmands to an on-campus Sunday morning event concluding with 12noon mass.
PC members approved request.

Building/grounds
repair/replace update: Tile roof
needs repair due to recent storm damage.
In process of replacing old windows in school.
Big budget item (custom made on site) – negotiating price with vendor.
Home & School funding a portion of cost.
Various ideas to fund remaining cost were discussed, including:
“adopt-a-window” individual contributions campaign, “fund-the-need” item
for Nov. 2008 auction.

A.
April 21st minutes – Marsha Camp.
Motion to approve 4/21/08 minutes with noted redactions; second by Paul
LaVigne.
B.
Leadership Meeting
– Dan Nester. Saturday, June 7th,
8am to 12:30 pm (lunch included).
Publicity flyer now available for distribution by PC members to respective
committee contacts.
C.
PC Retreat – Patsy
Goessling. Date is set for Saturday,
August 23rd, 8am to 12:30pm.
Details to follow.
D.
Family Night – John Caruso.
New date is set for Thursday, October 9, 2008 with blessing of families
after all masses on Sunday, Oct. 5th.
Mr. Biggs will follow up with Fast Direct survey after October Family
Night – get input/feedback for spring Family Night.
E.
Facilities Usage
Subcommittee – John Caruso, Kay Smit and Dan Nester.
Looking for subcommittee representative from respective committees.
F.
Archdiocesan
Women’s Recognition Award. Three
nominees – Carol Brescia, Mary Black and Lynne Allenspach.
Final PC nomination is Mary Black.

Miscellaneous –

ACA Results.
Fr. Meier. MQP met parish
goal; and at 80% of “stretch” goal; still receiving pledges.

Change to summer
mass schedule (7:30am, 9:30am, 11am) begins Memorial Day weekend.

Parish Committee
Reports:
Finance
– John Caruso. On budget.
East driveway is getting replaced.
Women’s League
– Marsha Camp. Looking for ways to
streamline expenses for larger, recurring events (e.g., Breakfast with Santa,
etc.) Planning fashion show for Fall
2008.
Home & School
– Paul Klug. Installing “Smart
Boards” in classrooms next year.
Auction update: “Magic in the
Moonlight” theme. Book Fair moving
to Fall – week of 10/19/08 to 10/23/08.
Spring Festival – still preparing final accounting.
Looking at streamlining classroom dues process to a single lump sum paid
at Ice Cream Social to cover classroom costs throughout the year.
Youth Group
– Susie Fandos. Senior awards:
Emily Milford (Post Dispatch Scholar/Athlete and Teresa Goodwillie
(Archbishop May Service Award). Jack
– graduating from Aquinas - will be here another year; continued involvement
with MQP Youth.
Athletic Council
– Dan Nester.
Funding new basketball hoops for blacktop and bleacher shields for child
safety. Home & School or other
committees may also fund a portion of these costs.
Increase in registration fees for CYC sports will support AC’s
stewardship within the parish.
B.
Men’s ACTS Retreat
– Doug Dolan. Upcoming Men’s retreat
5/29 to 6/1. 18 men signed up thus
far.
C.
Special Masses –
Fr. Meier. Nine men ordained to
priesthood this month. MQP will be
involved in welcoming two of these men to the priesthood – a way of showing to
parishioners the fulfillment of recent prayers for vocations/chalice.
June 1, 2008 – Fr. Kevin Schroeder will celebrate 9:30 am mass at MQP.
June 8, 2008 – Fr. William Sheahan will celebrate his first mass at MQP
at the 9:30 am mass.
D.
Other/Open Floor –
Susie Fandos. Suggested invite
senior citizen parishioners to Ice Cream social.
Mary Brummell – conveying parishioner request to generally tone down and
eliminate alcohol references in mini auction party themes and descriptions.
