Youth Ministry

“Growing closer to God and one another as we grow ourselves.”

Our High School Youth Group is open to all parish high school students. We meet following the noon mass in the rectory meeting room on the 1st and 3rd Sundays during the school year. Our hope is to create a safe place for students to share and discuss faith issues while strengthening our high school community. We offer the following retreat experiences each year:

  • Survivor Service Retreat – Held in October, this retreat begins on Saturday morning. Students spend the day serving the less fortunate in the area then return to MQP to learn more about social justice issues and their role as young Catholics. The students spend the night in cardboard boxes on the school grounds. The retreat concludes with the 9:00 mass on Sunday.
  • Luke 18 – This incredibly popular weekend retreat is led by high school students and young adults. The aim is to teach parish 8th graders about the amazing love of God through the witness of our teen leaders. The retreat is generally held in February.
  • Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference – Held each summer on the campus of Missouri State University, this dynamic weekend brings together thousands of young people in a celebration of our faith.

Extreme is our junior high youth ministry program offered to parish 7th and 8th graders. Extreme meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 7:30 pm. The focus of these meetings is faith mixed in with lots of fun.

For All MQP Teens

The MQP Youth Group is made up of teenagers interested in coming together to grow in their relationship with Christ and each other. All teens are encouraged to attend the Inter-Generational Mass (which is held at Noon of the first and third Sundays of the month) where they are invited to actively participate in many of the ministerial roles. Once confirmed, opportunities exist for teens to utilize their gifts and talents with the entire parish community by lectoring, participating in the Noon Mass Band, or serving as a hospitality minister. They are also invited to participate in a “faith sharing” program which is held after the Inter-Generational Mass in the Rectory Meeting Room (during the school year).

We also have many special events throughout the year. Whether it’s social events, spiritual events or community service you are looking for… we’ve got it all! Please read the “MQP Youth News” section of the parish bulletin weekly to keep up with all of the on-going activities.
