Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based religion program rooted in the Bible and the Liturgy.  Children gather weekly in a specially prepared room, called the Atrium.  The room contains simple, but beautiful, age-appropriate materials. These “works” are presented to the children in a contemplative way.  The children are then able to work with the materials as they ponder these ideas more deeply.  The Atrium is not a classroom, but a place of prayer and community.  Most importantly, it is a place for children to deepen their relationship with Jesus, Our Good Shepherd.  Learn more at www.cgsusa.org

CGS is an important part of the core curriculum for children enrolled at Mary Queen of Peace School. Once a week, children ages 3-6 visit the Atrium, which contains simple, yet beautiful, handmade catechetical objects. They learn about different aspects of liturgy and scripture in a way that is appropriate to their age and developmental level.

Children ages 3 years to 3rd grade who are not enrolled at MQP School may also register for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program.  Cost is $220 for the year.

Level 1 CGS is held on Sunday mornings from 8:45-10:30am and is available for preschool and kindergarten children.
Level 2 CGS is held on Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:45pm and is available for 1st - 3rd graders.

Fall 2017 sessions begin September 17 and continue through the school year. Space is limited, and registration is first come.
